Scuba Outing | Pizza Party

Come and learn a new skill! We are having a pool party at Diver Dan's in Kenosha! Experience the thrills of being weightless while exploring the underwater world. Scouts will be scuba diving or snorkeling in a 90 degree custom designed pool. Scouts will learn how to use the cool gear, make scuba breathing sounds and swim around blowing bubbles. Then it will be time to break out the pool toys and some games. After scouts are good and tired, we will head back with a stop at Barnaby’s Pizza for some dinner before heading home.

Cantigny Military Museum / Churchill Woods

We will be camping Friday night in Churchill Woods in Glen Ellyn and then visit Cantigny Park on Saturday. The park is home to several museums including The First Division Museum, dedicated to the history of the Big Red One, the famed 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. We will explore the 1st Division Army museum there -- and climb on tanks and armored vehicles outside. We will also go for a short 2 ½ mile hike.

Devil's Lake

Camping, Hiking and Orienteering / Map Reading at Devil’s Lake: Founded in 1911, Devil's Lake is the third oldest state park in Wisconsin, the largest and the most visited. Devil's Lake offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Enjoy lakeshore picnic areas, 29 miles of hiking trails or ease into the backcountry solitude.

PTAC Camporee

The Camporee will be hosted at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village, IL. Experience programs and activities that you can’t always find on unit outings or even summer camp - including Robot building, Hands-on STEM experiments, Obstacle courses, Rocket launches, and so much more! Then complete the weekend with an incredible closing show!

Sugar River Canoe Trip

First outing of the year promises to be spectacular! The troop will be canoeing the Sugar River in WI. The Sugar River is a tributary of the Pecatonica River, approximately 91 miles (146 km) long moving through Wisconsin and Illinois. The scouts will be canoeing 10 of those 91 miles!

Starved Rock/Matthiessen Expedition

Scouts will be camping in Starved Rock State Park. Scouts will be planning their expedition hike through Starved Rock on Saturday Morning then returning to camp for lunch and then heading out for their second expedition hike at Matthiessen State Park.This provides the opportunity for younger scouts to work towards a merit badge and older scouts heading to Philmont to participate in a shakedown.

U.S. Grant Pilgrimage - Galena, IL

The first Ulysses S. Grant Boy Scout Pilgrimage was a weeklong celebration starting on Saturday, April 23, 1955 founded by Virginia Carroll and Ruth Turner. There were 444 boy scouts from 37 different troops and three states in attendance. Today- this event draws between 3,000 and 5,000 scouts and scouters. This year’s theme, Spirits of 1869, highlighting events that took place in 1869 and some of the Spirits in Galena’s History.

Russell Woods, Genoa, IL

Come and join us for Orienteering activities! The Scouts will find their way to various checkpoints through the 126-acre Russell Woods with the aid of a map and compass. The landscape includes the upland forest and the low wet woodland which is down from the bluff and across the river. The river itself is rich in aquatic species, including native freshwater mussels.

St. Mark’s Lock-In

Scouts will be spending an overnight lock-in at St. Mark’s Church Center here in Mt. Prospect! Scouts will get to play Spider Ball, Basket Ball, engage in team building, watch Big Screen Movies, play board games etc. They will feast on a Taco Bar they work to create, cracker barrel, and to finish off their weekend, a pancake breakfast!

Cascade Mountain Ski Outing

Scouts will leave on Friday night and check in at the Quality Inn and Suites in Lodi, WI. We “Camp” in the Conference room with pool access. Saturday we will ski at nearby Cascade Mountain in Portage, WI. Late Saturday afternoon we’ll head back to the hotel for pizza, movies, and swimming. There will be a light breakfast Sunday morning before driving home.
